The United Kingdom is ultimately led by the UK Prime Minister, Theresa May, assisted by the Cabinet and the ministers. Per the uncodified British constitution, the current monarch, who happens to be Queen Elizabeth II, holds the executive authority for the UK government, though this authority is exercised only with the advisement of the prime minister and the cabinet.

Commonly referred to as the British government, the policies of the UK government are put into practice by a number of departments, agencies, and public bodies. A department consists of employed civil servants and is politically accountable through a minister, who runs a department.

The largest department within the UK government happens to the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP). DWP’s contact numbers will be listed and their functions, including DWP customer service, will be explained thoroughly within this article.
