HMRC Overview

HMRC, also known as HM Revenue and Customs, refers to a non-ministerial department within the UK government called Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs that collects taxes while paying a type of state support and administers other regulatory regimes that include the national minimum wage.

The department came into being following the merger that took place between Her Majesty’s Customs and Exercise and Inland Revenue on April 18, 2005. The entire United Kingdom is under the jurisdiction of this revenue department.

The department handles all inland revenue and all tariffs that are included in its HMRC VAT and HMRC Tax sectors.
